Safety
Stay safe and comfortable
A few habits keep every session safe. Read this once before you start, and share it with anyone who helps you.
Stop and take off the headset if you feel
- Dizzy, lightheaded, or unsteady
- Sick to your stomach, sweaty, or pale
- A headache or eye strain
- Pain anywhere
- Short of breath, or chest discomfort
Sit and rest until you feel completely normal. If you don't feel better, contact your doctor.
Before you start
- If you or anyone in your family has a history of seizures, talk to a doctor first.
- If you're recovering from surgery or an injury, or have a health condition, check with your doctor or therapist before starting, and follow their plan.
- Use the headset only when you're feeling well.
Your space
- Clear a few feet of open space on every side.
- Keep the area free of furniture, pets, and people. In most apps, you won't see the room around you.
- Use a sturdy chair without wheels.
Sitting and standing
- Start every app seated, except StarGait.
- Once you feel steady, you can stand in Happy Valley, AquaVision, and Power Pinball.
- For walking activities like StarGait, always have another adult beside you.
During and after
- Start with 5 to 10 minutes and build up slowly.
- Take a break every 20 to 30 minutes.
- Take the headset off slowly, and sit for a minute before you stand or walk.
